Most Common Traffic Offenses for DUI in Georgia

Before most people are investigated for a DUI, they were usually stopped for another traffic offense. The same traffic offenses usually lead to a DUI investigation:

  1. Traffic Accidents– This is the most common reason for a DUI investigation, and if you are found to be at fault in the accident, it is a very easy way for the police to prove that you were a “less safe” driver due to the influence of alcohol.
  1. Speeding– The faster you go, the easier it is for the police to say you were “less safe.”
  1. Failure to Maintain Lane– This happens all the time, especially late at night when people may be coming home from work and are sleepy. The slightest movement from lane to lane or even touching the fog line with your tires can lead to you getting pulled over and being investigated for DUI.
  1. Running a Red Light– All it takes is running one red light (or even a yellow one) late at night and you are painting a DUI target on yourself.

In order to be charged with a DUI, you have to give the police a reason to initiate a traffic stop. Be a careful driver and save yourself from a DUI. If you are charged with a DUI, give us a call.
