Question: Do the police monitor my activity on craigslist or other websites?
Answer: Police are constantly monitoring online activities, especially on sites like Craigslist and Backpage. I would say that probably 90% of some of the personals that you see on Craigslist are, in fact, sting operations. And, you have to be careful because you really don’t have to do that much in response to an ad in order to commit a criminal act. That’s something that we routinely defend against—argue entrapment and other defenses. But it’s definitely a serious problem.
