Using a First Offender Plea on a Georgia Misdemeanor Charge

Using a First Offender Plea on a Georgia Misdemeanor Charge

Under Georgia’s First Offenders Act, if you complete the terms of your plea for an offense, such as community service or probation, then your record will be updated to reflect that the charges against you have been dismissed. A First Offender Plea can be used for both misdemeanors and felonies.

One Time Only

It is important to understand that you can only use your First Offender Plea once. If you use it on a misdemeanor charge, you are forever waiving your right to use it in the future, whether for a future misdemeanor or felony charge.

Before you decide to use your First Offenders plea, it’s important to talk to an experienced criminal lawyer about your rights and all your options. Contact us for a free consultation and to discuss strategies to resolve your case.
